topher is a graduate student at the local university, finishing up his master's degree after spending most of his tuition on an education at new york university. there he met one cora west, with whom he is best friends for fucking ever, and also very, very reluctantly in love with. and don't think that she's left behind; nope, about two weeks after he left for seattle with his younger brother max to keep him company, cora showed up with a role in a locally shot zombie film. she also had in tow one andy doyle, cora's arch nemesis and (as fate would have it) a good friend of topher's. see, topher has this sort of quirky charm, like a dog with three legs or a lady with an eyepatch. he's irresistibly weird and nice because he can. topher also loves the friends he has, but consequently is really scared of any sort of change. he also puts the fierce in "fiercely loyal." even though he's got the body of your average nerd, he'd be more than willing to allow a fight to escalate physically if, say, a friend's honor is at stake. as far as friends go, he doesn't necessarily have a shit-ton of ’em, but he likes to keep the good ones very close. he also has a fair amount of friends-by-association, because he totally believes in that “the friend of my friend is my friend” thing, even though it doesn’t go by that at all. for enemies topher's kind of a walking punching bag. this hasn't really changed since high school. if he gets into a fight without his plastic wolverine claws, he will probably lose. so, easy pickings for the ~*~manly men~*~ of you out there. of course, another great way to make bad with topher is to do something not assholish to his friends. and unless you have any sort of past relationship in mind, topher’s covered as far as the ladies go.

NEIL FARADAY

neil’s a student of seattle university, but just barely. after getting rejected once the admissions department received his dismal school marks and ignored the perfect scores on his gcse examinations (that’s the brit equivalent to the sat or the act – and yes, he’s british), neil went to the school and appealed. and seeing as neil’s the luckiest bastard on the planet, he actually got in. not that he’s since done much to prove he deserves it. although he makes good grades, he tends to hand all of the semester’s work on the final day and, by some miracle (again proof he’s the luckiest bastard on the planet) the professors tend to accept it and reward him with grades slightly better than he deserves. this isn’t to say he’s stupid; neil’s intelligent, that’s for sure, but he prefers an education outside of the classroom. after all, he learned how to juggle from his mom (well, one of his moms) and how to write with both hands (at once!) by his own discipline. in addition to those little nuggets of joy, he also juggles, yo-yos, is fluent in both pig latin and russian, can do a one-handed cartwheel, and makes breakfast in the nude. he’s just that oddly multitalented. his talent and charm (which probably accounts for his popularity with the professors, rather than plain-old luck [but he asserts he has it anyway]) has earned him quite a few friends and slightly less of the jealous-type enemies. and as far as loves go, he’s a bit wide open, since, y’know, he’s my brandest, newest character. ;]

^{ummm.. same story? well, i guess if topher and soj are friends, then he would maybe be somewhat protective over volatile little emmy? she's basically a world-class fuck-up, and soj is trying to help her get back on her feet, and cora and soj were discussing "that one time where cora and topher met emmy"... so i suppose he would know her? haha.. nice run-on, ellen. anyway. maybe he would have a big brother complex over her? it doesn't really matter to me. o:}

^{same story as with topher and logan, i suppose. on one hand, neil could have accidentally plowed a completely baked logan over--via unicycle--in the street one day, and this blossoming friendship began where he's been helping her with her assorted petty dramas, from her alcohol and drug addictions to her ex-fiancee ruining her life... or whatever. but on the other hand, they could never have met in any way, which would probably make things simpler. c:}

^{evie, who is anna's lovely ginny weasley! bonnie wright character, and emmy are good friends. so, if (and i'm assuming it will, here) neil and evie develop some sort of relationship, or already have one, or whatever, emmy would probably know him through that. also, considering emmy's a total chain-smoking airhead, i can definitely see this epic scene where she storms right into neil's apartment to tell him something fatally important, where he is doing some assortment of household chores in the nude. emmy, of course, fails to notice and/or care about this, and proceeds to tell him whatever she was there to tell him. hilarity ensues.}

shared appreciation of journalism, maybe? the only thing they mutually appreciate? perhaps, once topher weasels his way out of the comic book shop and gets an internship, they could meet on the job and really just not like each other? because, topher? not so great with the first impressions.

topher & emmy

yeah, topher has a good understanding and sympathy for trainwrecks (for further demonstration, look no further than andy doyle), so he would definitely be getting the overwhelming spider-sense of helpfulness around emmy. also, he’ll be constantly asking if they have a rogue brother named oscar… geddit? brb, shuffling into a corner.

any friend of cora’s is a friend of topher’s. even if she constantly torments him with, “you want to HUG her, you want to KISS her, you want to LOVE her,” under her breath every time the three of them are together. just sayin’.

neil & logan

neil so would plow over people in the street. he’d disrupt parades. chaos would reign supreme. anyway, yeah, that works. c:

uhm, i think they'd be okay friends. anna is really outgoing, so if they ever accidentally bumped into each other on the street or met through someone else or something, they'd probably have at least a small conversation. she's a really sweet girl and i can see them getting along rather well. she would find him quite hilarious as well. i dunno. just throwing stuff out there. feel free to add/subtract/whateverrrr.

i don't know how georgia would know topher but i feel as though george and neil should be friends (just because i love dan radcliffe). i believe georgia and neil are the same age and both at university so their paths would have crossed. george cannot organize for toffee, has the worst memory in the world and is always loosing things or falling over. she is slightly immature for a twenty year old and is rather naive. she's not an academic person and is rather ditzy and gullible. she prefers music and art and appreciates the odd things in life. she has a quirky sense of style and a eccentric personality. i think neil and george would make wonderful friends. erm, let me know if you think of anything else.
