dita really didn't like to brag, but when it came to education, she was truly an A+ student. she was proud of the fact that she was smart, but also an attractive young lady. she wasn't the type of girl to flaunt that, though; or the type of girl to think she was better than anybody. she wasn't. she was average, in her mind. a girl who had moved to america in hopes for a better future, which she got.
it's funny, america. hundreds and thousands of people come here to be free, to find a better life. but, dita didn't really see anything about america that was different from other top countries like england, or france. she thought that she could probably be just as successful in those countries, as she could in america. but yet, americans always seemed to think that they were superior to her because of her race. they always seemed to assume shewas good at math, or art, liked to eat dog, or some rude, racist comment like that. but, dita learned to deal with it and take it all into strides. she figured there would always be those type of people in the world who would say "chin chong chow" just to be funny, or the type of people who asked if she was submissive and served her men.
the thing is, though, dita was loyal, but in no way submissive. she knew what she wanted and what to do, but she wasn't a bitch about it like most people she knew. she accomplished situations in a very dignified and mature manner. she never resorted to mindless game calling or personal attacks because that wasn't who she was. it took a lot to really piss her the hell off, and few had ever managed to accomplish that, but a mad dita is something that people would be fearful to even reckon with. for a petite little girl, she was sure as hell feisty. she had taken a self defense class when she was younger, since her parents had heard about the high crime rate in indianapolis. only one time did she feel truely threatened where she had to use that knowledge, but besides that, she was pretty sure people didn't even know she knew how to defend herself. she liked it that way, though, she didn't want to seem threatening at all.
dita walked in a hurried pace towards nowhere in particular. it's not like she had actually planned to go shopping at all anyway. it just happened to be one of those "on a whim", situations, and she had decided to spontaneously go shopping. the night was coming nearer though, and shops were beginning to close. so really, she had nowhere to go.
maybe she should have looked where she was going, because as she glanced, at a store about to close with some fine jewelry, she bumped into another body, and it took her by utter surprise. she gasped quickly and looked at the person she had collided with, with a look of utter humiliation. she felt incredibly stupid. "I am so, so sorry, i wasn't looking where i was going at all. are you ok? all she could do was hope the stranger wasn't some psycho who flipped out by the thought of somebody even looking at them in the wrong way. she had a worried frown on her face, waiting for the person to answer her, or yell, or whatever. she was waiting for it, because, that's what happened in the movies, right?
